March 8, 2026 Annual Stocking of French Creek

Dame Juiana League, under the leadership of Dave Capone, assisted the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commissionin by drift stocking French Creek. Our Conservation Officer Sean Rae directed the operation.

There were 500 trout released, predominantly rainbows. Eight DJL members and around 10 mostly local volunteers, along with homeowner, Matt Thomas did the heavy lifting. Matt drove his vehicle, called a “mule” through his pasture upstream to where the pocket water starts with 4 buckets of trout. There were 4 volunteers for each of the 2 float boxes.

DJL Member Brenna DeKorte stores the boxes all year in her barn and Eric Tscantre picks them up and brings them to and from the stream.

February 20, 2025 Annual Stocking of French Creek

The February 20th stocking of the Fly Fishing only section of the French Creek was a huge success due to our many generous volunteers, namely:

Steve Basson; Greg Boone; Joe King; Alex Grella; Matt Romano; Eric Tschantre; Joe Watts; Matt Lacey; Terry Horst; Emerson Cannon; Tom Maczko: Brian MacElroy; Ron Nimitz; Peggy Barnes; Brenna DeKorte; Matt Seymour and Dave Capone.

We also had help from a few fellows who had followed the truck to our location.

Pa Fish & Boat delivered over 700 fish which were float-stocked and bucketed throughout the creek. The Waterways Conservation Officer, Derek Norman was on hand as was his predecessor, the recently retired Bob Bonney. The weather was beautiful as reflected in the accompanied photos taken by Matt Seymour.
